Amethyst St.Thomas, MSW, LCSW
Amethyst St.Thomas is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Bachelor’s in Social Worker from Clark Atlanta University and a Master’s of Social Work with a focus in trauma-informed-care from Barry University. She began her work in the trauma field while working with the Victim’s Witness Assistance Program in Atlanta, GA and has since held positions in the field of crisis, case management, group facilitation, and individual therapy. She has worked with adults, families, diverse populations, children with chronic illness, dual diagnosis, and within the criminal justice system. She has also assisted in facilitating therapeutic treatment groups, and provided community-based services for medically underserved people impacted by trauma. In her current role, she provides behavioral health screenings, individual therapy, crisis intervention, substance abuse counseling and transgender care services in Miami, FL. In addition to her clinical role, she possess expertise in community organizing, and advocacy.
In addition to her clinical role, Ms. St.Thomas, serves as the BSSW Field Coordinator with Florida International University, and Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor.
When she is not servicing her clients or her student, Ms. St.Thomas volunteers with various organizations such as, All-Options, a talk line that provides unconditional and judgment-free support for the full spectrum of experiences with pregnancy, parenting, abortion, and adoption. Currently, she serves as President of the Miami-Dade Chapter of Association of Black Social Workers, and as Spokesperson for the Egbe Omo Yansa.
